Pattern: Deepfake livestream scam
A hijacked or newly created video channel runs a looped, AI-altered clip of a well-known executive announcing a "corporate giveaway". An overlay shows a wallet address or QR code with the classic send-and-double promise. The stream carries a live badge and inflated viewer numbers to defeat the viewer's usual scepticism.
- The clip loops, and the audio never references anything happening today
- Comments are disabled or heavily filtered
- Channel name is close to, but not, the real company channel
- The named executive has publicly stated they never run giveaways

Red flags in this case
- A handle that is one character off the real one, or reuses a verified person's name and photo.
- The conversation is moved to WhatsApp, Telegram or DM almost immediately.
- Replies and followers that are mostly other new accounts posting the same praise.
What to do if you were caught by this
- Contact your bank or card issuer straight away and ask them to stop, recall or charge back the payment.
- Keep every message, receipt, screenshot and address before you block anyone — this is the evidence any investigation needs.
- Report it to your national fraud authority. In the United States that is the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov and the FBI's IC3 at ic3.gov.
- Ignore anyone who contacts you offering to recover the money for a fee. Recovery fraud is the standard follow-up to this pattern.
