How a report becomes a listing

  2. 2We match it against every other report of the same thing.
  3. 3Once three different people have reported it, it is listed publicly with its own page.
  4. 4It appears on this page and in Friday's digest to every subscriber.
  5. 5If the owner thinks it is wrong, they can appeal and we review it.

Scam registry — frequent questions

Is there a public database of known scam websites?

Yes. The GACS scam registry is a free, public list of reported scam websites, crypto wallets, phone numbers and social handles. Every listed entry has its own page showing how many independent people reported it, what kind of scam it was, and when it was last seen. There is no signup and no paywall.

How do I check if a website, wallet or phone number is a scam?

Paste it into the free GACS checker at gacs.app/check. It matches what you paste against every entry in the public registry plus sanctions and abuse sources, and returns a verdict in a couple of seconds. If there is no match, the registry says so plainly rather than guessing — a clean result is not a guarantee of safety.

Where does the registry data come from?

Reports submitted by the public, cross-checked against public sanctions data (OpenSanctions) and scam lists republished from law-enforcement and regulator portals where the licence allows it. When three different people independently report the same website, wallet or number, it is promoted to the public registry with its own page.

Can I use the GACS scam registry data in an article or research?

Yes, with attribution to GACS (Global Anti-Crime & Safety) and a link to the page you used. Aggregate counts, category breakdowns and country breakdowns are published on the registry statistics page. Nothing identifying a person who filed a report is ever published.

What if a business has been listed unfairly?

Every listing page carries an appeal link. An appeal pauses further escalation while a human reviews the evidence; if the report does not hold up, the entry is marked a false alarm and removed from the public registry.
