Finelo charges you didn't expect? How to cancel and get your money back

Finelo is an app that teaches trading and investing. It is not a broker and it does not trade for you. Many people report being billed every month for it without realising they had agreed to a subscription. This guide shows how to stop the charges today and how to ask for a refund.

Quick answer

  1. Cancel the automatic payment where you pay (PayPal, card, Apple or Google).
  2. Ask Finelo support for a full refund in writing and keep the reply.
  3. If the response does not resolve the issue, dispute the specific eligible charges through the payment provider.

Why we wrote this

A GACS team member found Finelo charges going out through PayPal for six months for a service they do not remember signing up for and never used. Update, 3 October 2026: after a PayPal dispute that referenced this guide, all six monthly charges ($239.94 in total) are now being processed and refunded through PayPal. That first-hand experience prompted this evidence-based guide for other people reviewing similar charges.

What the evidence says

Finelo's policies and customer allegations are different kinds of evidence. We keep them separate.

Finelo's published billing position

Finelo says an introductory offer can continue into a regular subscription and that entering payment details authorizes recurring billing. [1] Its public pricing page advertised a $19.99 first-month discount for a four-week plan when checked on 2 October 2026. The final checkout—not a general guide—controls the exact offer shown to an individual buyer.

What customers allege

BBB complaints [7], Trustpilot [8], PissedConsumer [9] and Hellopeter [10] contain reports of unexpected renewals, add-on offers, difficulty locating the correct cancellation route, refund refusals or partial offers. Those are individual accounts, not verified findings by GACS or a regulator.

What we did not find

Our research did not find a Finelo-specific regulator or court decision establishing fraud. We therefore do not call Finelo a scam or state that disputed billing is intentional.

Step 1: Stop the charges now

Bought on Finelo's website

Sign in at app.finelo.com, open Profile, Settings, Manage Subscription, then Cancel Subscription. Finelo says website purchases must be cancelled there—even if you later downloaded the iPhone app. Save the on-screen message and confirmation email.

PayPal automatic payment

In PayPal, open Settings, Payments, then Automatic payments or Subscriptions and saved businesses. Select the Finelo billing agreement and cancel it. Save proof that it shows inactive. This stops future PayPal authorization but does not automatically refund past charges.

Apple App Store purchase

On iPhone, open Settings, your name, Subscriptions, then Finelo and Cancel. If Finelo is absent, check whether the original receipt came from Finelo's website instead. Apple—not Finelo—decides App Store refund requests.

Google Play purchase

Open Google Play, profile, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, Finelo, then Cancel. Keep the Google order ID because Finelo asks Google Play purchasers to include it in refund requests.

Direct card charge

Cancel in the Finelo account first. If you do not recognize the account or future charges continue, call the issuer using the number on your card and ask what merchant block or card replacement it recommends.

Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. [2]

Step 2: Get your money back

  1. Step 1

    Build a clean evidence file

Save receipts, statements, the offer or checkout screenshot, renewal emails, usage history if relevant, cancellation confirmation, support replies and every transaction ID. Write a one-line timeline while the dates are fresh.

  2. Step 2

Request a refund through the responsible channel

Website purchasers can contact Finelo support in writing. Apple handles App Store refunds. Finelo tells Google Play purchasers to contact support with the Google order ID. State only facts you can support.

  3. Step 3

Use the payment provider's dispute process

If the seller response does not resolve the issue, open the correct PayPal or card dispute. Distinguish an entirely unknown transaction from a renewal, changed amount, service issue or post-cancellation charge. False 'unauthorized' claims can undermine a valid case.

  4. Step 4

    Escalate before the displayed deadline

If PayPal requires a dispute to be escalated to a claim, do that before the deadline shown in the Resolution Center. Do not close a case because a merchant promises a future refund unless the money has arrived and the provider confirms the consequences.

  5. Step 5

    Report unresolved conduct accurately

In the US, report a suspected deceptive billing practice to the FTC and your state attorney general. Describe your transaction and evidence; do not copy claims from other reviewers into your report.

Subject: Request to review and refund Finelo charges

I am requesting a review of the Finelo charges listed below:

[Date] — [Amount] — [Transaction ID]
[Date] — [Amount] — [Transaction ID]

What I knowingly authorized: [describe the initial offer or write "I did not authorize any Finelo purchase"]
What I understood the price and billing period to be: [your understanding]
What was charged: [amount, date and frequency]
Why I dispute it: [for example: renewal not clearly disclosed / charged after confirmed cancellation / amount differed from checkout / account not mine]

I cancelled on [date] through [website / PayPal / Apple / Google / card issuer]. My confirmation or supporting screenshots are attached.

Please stop future billing and refund the disputed charges. Please reply in writing with the outcome and the terms relied upon.

Thank you.

Edit every bracketed line. Do not claim you never authorized a purchase if you made the first payment; explain the precise renewal, amount, disclosure or cancellation issue instead.

How to spot a trial that turns into a subscription

  • An ad promises you can make money trading with very little cash or no experience.
  • A quiz tells you that you're a great fit, whatever you answer.
  • A tiny one-time price, with the renewal price in small print near the button.
  • A countdown timer or "50% off, today only" offer on extra add-ons right after you pay.
  • No clear email telling you when the trial ends and what you'll be charged.

Frequently asked questions

Why did Finelo charge me?

Finelo's support page says an introductory offer can continue as a regular subscription and that entering payment details authorizes recurring billing. That explains Finelo's stated billing model; it does not decide whether the renewal was clearly disclosed in your individual checkout.

How do I cancel Finelo?

Cancel through the channel that originally billed you. Website purchases are cancelled inside your Finelo account, Apple purchases in iPhone Subscriptions, and Google Play purchases in Google Play. Finelo says a website purchase will not appear in Apple subscriptions even if you use the iPhone app.

Can I get a Finelo refund?

Finelo says website refunds are generally assessed case by case and identifies a 14-day withdrawal right for qualifying EU consumers. Apple decides App Store refund requests; Finelo directs Google Play purchasers to contact support with the order ID. Payment-provider disputes remain a separate option when the charge was unauthorized or materially different from what was agreed.

Does deleting the Finelo app cancel the subscription?

No. Deleting an app does not end billing. Cancel through the original payment channel and keep the confirmation.

How long do I have to dispute a charge?

Deadlines depend on the payment provider, funding source, country and dispute type. PayPal commonly allows eligible disputes within 180 days, while card deadlines vary. Check the current rule shown in your account and act promptly rather than relying on a general deadline.

Should I choose unauthorized activity or a billing problem?

Choose the truthful category. If you made the first payment but dispute the recurring terms or amount, do not claim the entire relationship was unknown. Describe exactly what you authorized, what you understood, what was later charged and what disclosure or service you dispute.

Is Finelo a scam?

GACS has not found a regulator or court decision establishing that Finelo is a scam. It is a functioning education product, but public complaint platforms contain recurring customer allegations about renewals, advertising expectations, cancellation and refunds. Read our independent Finelo review for the full evidence comparison.

Last verified 3 October 2026. We compared Finelo's own pricing, billing, cancellation, refund and legal pages with public customer reports and payment-provider help. Company policy, customer allegation and the team member's first-hand account are labelled separately. We did not purchase or test the course, and this page does not claim Finelo broke any law.
