I built a free, ad-free scam checker after my [family member] got pig-butchered. Posting in case it helps someone here.
Hi r/Scams — long-time lurker. After someone in my family lost a lot to a pig-butchering scam I couldn't find a single free tool that checked a website AND a wallet AND a phone number in one place without ads or upsell. So I built one: https://gacs.app/go?to=%2F&utm_source=reddit-scams&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=launch-2026 It's 100% free, no signup, no tracking, no paid tier. Open public blacklist (~250k entities), free RSS feed, free API, browser extension. Not selling anything — running it out of pocket. A few pages that might be useful for this sub: - https://gacs.app/go?to=%2Fpanic-guide&utm_source=reddit-scams&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=launch-2026 — the first 60 minutes after being scammed - https://gacs.app/go?to=%2Frecovery-scam&utm_source=reddit-scams&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=launch-2026 — the second-stage scam that targets fresh victims here every day - https://gacs.app/go?to=%2Freport&utm_source=reddit-scams&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=launch-2026 — file a scam in ~60 seconds, becomes a public warning page Happy to take feedback, criticism, or feature requests. Mods — if this isn't appropriate please remove and DM me, no hard feelings.
How to post: Post on a weekday morning US time. Engage with every reply for the first 24 hours. Never link the same URL twice in the comments — link to the relevant subpage instead.

Mapped 228 active crypto-scam entities in May 2026 — 38% phishing sites, 32% fake brokers, only 0.9% memecoin rugs. Full breakdown.
Pulled together a public dataset of every crypto-scam entity our triage pipeline has verified in the last 30 days. Surprising headline: memecoin rugs are 0.9% of verified threats. Phishing front-ends are 38%. Full breakdown by category, chain, and severity here: https://gacs.app/go?to=%2Fblog%2Fstate-of-crypto-scams-2026&utm_source=reddit-crypto&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=launch-2026 The underlying blacklist (~250k entities) is public and free to query — no key, no signup. RSS feed if you want the firehose: https://gacs.app/go?to=%2Frss.xml&utm_source=reddit-crypto&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=launch-2026 Methodology, source data, and a wallet-checker built on top of the same dataset: https://gacs.app/go?to=%2Frisk-recon&utm_source=reddit-crypto&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=launch-2026 Happy to answer questions on the methodology in the comments.
How to post: DO NOT post if you've posted to r/CryptoCurrency in the last 7 days. Use 'OC' flair. Mods are strict on self-promo — lead with the research, never with the tool.

Show HN: GACS — free, ad-free scam checker with a public API and 250k-entity blacklist
GACS is a free scam-detection toolkit I've been building solo. It checks websites, crypto wallets, phone numbers and social handles against a public 250k-entity blacklist, plus heuristic + WHOIS + on-chain signals. No ads, no tracker, no paid tier. Stack: TanStack Start on Cloudflare Workers, Supabase for the blacklist + reports, lazy-loaded everything to keep TTI under 1s on mobile. What I think is interesting: - Free public API (no key): https://gacs.app/go?to=%2Fdevelopers&utm_source=hackernews&utm_medium=show-hn&utm_campaign=launch-2026 - Real-time RSS feed of new scam entities: https://gacs.app/go?to=%2Frss.xml&utm_source=hackernews&utm_medium=show-hn&utm_campaign=launch-2026 - Embeddable trust badge anyone can drop into their site: https://gacs.app/go?to=%2Fwidget&utm_source=hackernews&utm_medium=show-hn&utm_campaign=launch-2026 - Browser extension: https://gacs.app/go?to=%2Fextension&utm_source=hackernews&utm_medium=show-hn&utm_campaign=launch-2026 Limits I'm aware of: the historical corpus is smaller than ScamAdviser's 12-year database. Crypto coverage is the strongest area; APAC phone-scam coverage is the weakest. Honest feedback welcome — especially on the API design and the false-positive rate.
How to post: Submit between 7–9am Pacific on a Tue/Wed/Thu. Be in the comments for the next 6 hours. Show HN posts get one shot — don't repost.

GACS — Free, ad-free scam checker for the whole internet
Hey Product Hunt 👋 After watching a family member get caught by a pig-butchering scam I went looking for a free, no-bullshit scam checker that covered websites, crypto wallets, phone numbers and social handles in one place. Couldn't find one — every option was either ad-funded, paywalled, or crypto-only. So I built GACS: https://gacs.app/go?to=%2F&utm_source=producthunt&utm_medium=launch&utm_campaign=launch-2026 ✅ 100% free, no signup, no tracker, no paid tier ✅ Public 250k-entity scam blacklist + free RSS + free API ✅ Browser extension + embeddable trust badge ✅ Pig-butchering / recovery-scam / panic guide pages built for fresh victims ✅ Multilingual Not a startup, not raising, just trying to make scam-checking infrastructure free for the people who need it most. Would love feedback — especially from anyone who's been scammed or who works in fraud / consumer protection.

1/ Most scam-checkers are ad-funded, paywalled, or crypto-only. So I built one that's none of those things. Free. No ads. No tracker. Covers websites, wallets, phones, handles. https://gacs.app/go?to=%2F&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=thread&utm_campaign=launch-2026 2/ The public blacklist is ~250k entities, updated in real-time, queryable via free API (no key) and RSS. If you're building a wallet, exchange, or social app, you can wire scam-checks into your product in <50 lines. https://gacs.app/go?to=%2Fdevelopers&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=thread&utm_campaign=launch-2026 3/ The 2026 data is the surprising part: - 38% of verified threats are phishing websites - 32% are fake brokers - Only 0.9% are memecoin rugs Memecoin rugs are loud. Phishing front-ends are everything. https://gacs.app/go?to=%2Fblog%2Fstate-of-crypto-scams-2026&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=thread&utm_campaign=launch-2026 4/ For fresh victims, the most-used pages are: → https://gacs.app/go?to=%2Fpanic-guide&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=thread&utm_campaign=launch-2026 — first 60 minutes → https://gacs.app/go?to=%2Frecovery-scam&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=thread&utm_campaign=launch-2026 — the second-stage scam targeting them within hours → https://gacs.app/go?to=%2Freport&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=thread&utm_campaign=launch-2026 — file in 60s, becomes a public warning page 5/ Why free? Because charging victims for scam protection is gross. Full reasoning, including how it's funded: https://gacs.app/go?to=%2Fwhy-free&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=thread&utm_campaign=launch-2026 If this is useful to you or someone you know, a retweet helps more than a like. 🙏
How to post: Post as a single thread, not a tweetstorm. Pin to profile. DM 10 fraud / crypto-security accounts asking for an honest opinion (not a retweet) — gets you ~3 organic shares.

Data: 38% of verified crypto scams in May 2026 were phishing sites, not memecoin rugs
Hi [first name], I run GACS, a free public scam-tracking database (~250k entities). The May 2026 numbers from our triage pipeline run counter to the usual coverage: - 38% of verified active threats are phishing websites - 32% are unlicensed / fake brokers - 0.9% are memecoin rugs Full breakdown with methodology: https://gacs.app/go?to=%2Fblog%2Fstate-of-crypto-scams-2026&utm_source=press&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=launch-2026 Happy to give you the raw dataset, an exclusive on the next monthly cut, or an on-the-record interview about what fraud teams at banks are actually seeing.
