Mapped 228 active crypto-scam entities in May 2026 — 38% phishing sites, 32% fake brokers, only 0.9% memecoin rugs. Full breakdown.

Pulled together a public dataset of every crypto-scam entity our triage pipeline has verified in the last 30 days. Surprising headline: memecoin rugs are 0.9% of verified threats. Phishing front-ends are 38%.

Show HN: GACS — free, ad-free scam checker with a public API and 250k-entity blacklist

GACS is a free scam-detection toolkit I've been building solo. It checks websites, crypto wallets, phone numbers and social handles against a public 250k-entity blacklist, plus heuristic + WHOIS + on-chain signals. No ads, no tracker, no paid tier.

Stack: TanStack Start on Cloudflare Workers, Supabase for the blacklist + reports, lazy-loaded everything to keep TTI under 1s on mobile.

Limits I'm aware of: the historical corpus is smaller than ScamAdviser's 12-year database. Crypto coverage is the strongest area; APAC phone-scam coverage is the weakest.

Honest feedback welcome — especially on the API design and the false-positive rate.

Memecoin rugs are loud. Phishing front-ends are everything.
